After becoming free from Japan on August 15, 1945, Korea was occupied by Russia and U. S. A. And based on that situation, divided areas - North and South - has become divided after three years of war. And this year is 62 years after the war. For 62 years, many things happen and many things became different between two divided areas. And now, many people want unification with North Korea. Then, what things will happen in our life? And what things will be changed in cultural ways?
First, I would like to explain about the difference between North Korea and South Korea which we have now. We have many different things in various kinds of things; such as in language we use, foods we eat, social system, thinking, educational system, laws. First, I'll talk about language. Since we have been divided for a long time, many words have become different. Furthermore, naturally two countries got the different accent. Because of these two things, when we hear news broadcasting of North Korea, sometimes we feel like we are listening to other languages, although it is the same language as ours. Second, I'll talk about the social system. I think this one is the biggest reason what makes unification between two countries - North Korea and South Korea - become hard. To be specific, the social system of North Korea is self-reliance ideology. On the other hand, the social system of South Korea is democracy. And because two countries have a basically different social system, it is hard to understand each other. Third, I'll talk about the educational system. Because two countries have different social system, two countries have an opposite educational system. Each country teaches opposite things, facts, and the aim of the education is also different. For example, in North Korea, the educational aim is to make people think the leader is the best. However, in South Korea, the educational aim is to make all the people to become smart enough to do social life normally. And these three things are mainly different between North Korea and South Korea now.
Next, I would like to explain you about things, which will be changed after the unification with North Korea. From many things will be changed after unification, I would like to talk about cultural things, because it is the biggest thing which is related to our usual life. First, I would like to explain you about the language difference. After unification, I think that there will be a big change in language we use. Although we use basically same language, there is still much difference as the time flew. And because of those differences, there will be many difficulties in communication of our life. Because of different accent and different words we used before unification, there will be a sense of difference. Second, I would like to explain you about the different way of thinking. Because North Korea and South Korea have had a different social system for a long time, the person who were under that control was educated about that system. And it also educated people's thinking. So, after unification, there will be a difference between North Korean thinking and South Korean thinking. And because of the different way of thinking, many problems will occur. For example, if we work with each other, the people from North Korea will say, "Let's do it together." On the other hand, the people from South Korea will say, "Let's divide each person's work and do it alone." From this, we will be divided into two groups - people from North Korea and people from South Korea. And if this situation happens, it will be no use to unite two countries, because people are divided into two groups, although the territory is united. Third, I would like to explain you about the difference in the social system after unification. Now, North Korea and South Korea have a different social system. However, if we unite two countries, we should choose one social system as the united country's social system. And at that process, many problems will happen. Two sides of social system are going to conflict to be the social system of united country. People in the side of self-reliance ideology will say that self-reliance ideology should be selected as the social system of the united country. On the other hand, people in the side of democracy will say that democracy should be selected as the social system of the united country. If this situation happens, there will be a big confusion.
To wrap up all the things, I think there will be so much difference after unification of two countries. And because of those differences, there will be many difficulties. So, I personally hope that our country can solve those problems wisely and our united country to become best in the world!
