"I..I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked.."

It is the first phrase of a poem 'Howl' by Allen Ginsberg who was a poet of Beat Generation, which is what I'm going to say in this article. BEAT GENERATION; a group of nonconformist literati who banded together in New York, 1940s.

Thinking the society of the 1940s, it was time rounded with fear of war, and madness of people are arounded, as the poem 'Howl' said. After they were banded, their message was carried by a group of writers, poets, and some of journalists who used "stream of consciousness form"(한국문학>의식의 흐름 기법) to express the insights and longings of those who rejected the mainsteam values of the times.
The original Beats were gathered by friends; Jack Kerounac, Allen Ginsberg, Weal Cassady, and William S. Burruoghs.
For their masterpeices, the 'Howl' was the first work and the second novel of Kerounac 'On the road'(which is story of impoverished lifestyle of American youngsters) was the most successful work.

However more interestingly, such as this literal movement was not only happened in N.Y, but also U.K, there was the Angry Young Man literactural movement.
A.Y.M is a movement which was taken place by young writers after W.W.2, resisting costentations and conservative force and despair which has taken by war. Last 2007, the famous A.Y.M writer Doris Lessing has rewarded Nobel Prise for her novel 'The Golden Note Book'.

By those two literal movements, we learned that altough the places were different, the universal spirit of literacture is similar, and more importantly literacture is a mirror of that society.
