The foundational spirit of the United Nations is based on humanity. Likewise, justice and impartiality are closely related to the concept of humanity. They exist to foster the affirmative impact of humanity. This article presents the forms of humanity in our society and ways to consolidate the philosophies within humanity.
The general world disagrees with the idea of racial discrimination. That is, individuals shall not judge others just based on the colors of people¡¯s skins. Martin Luther King Jr. once said that people should judge others based on their content. If people start to evaluate others based on their colors, they cannot construct communities where transparency and justice can be preserved. Racial discrimination is highly relevant to the opposite characteristics of humanity. Humanity is there to encourage others to practice justice and virtue for people, especially those in vulnerable conditions.
Individual freedom and preferences should be respected in the name of humanity. People have the right to express their opinions without having pressure from others. Each human being fully deserves to be respected insofar he or she does not harm others. For that reason, many nations have designated the clauses related to the concept of freedom in their Constitutions.
Peace would be another name of humanity. Except for special circumstances explicitly described by the national law, people should not exercise violence or inflict others. As previously mentioned, people have no right to harm others. In a mutual relationship, individuals need to respect others. Therefore, approaching social issues in human aspects would be the gist to maintain peace.
One of the crucial ways to exercise humanity is to let the public know about humanity. Regardless of age and gender, people need to be aware of the traits of humanity. At the same time, they need to understand they are the ones who would practice humanity for the current and next generations. Such awareness can be realized based on education. Schools and institutions need to teach children and students the concept of humanity for the betterment of communities.
Once the majority of people recognize the forms of humanity, the governmental bodies need to enact proper and reasonable regulations that can guarantee humanity for people. This action is especially significant for social minorities whose conditions are inferior to the middle class. As the rights of individuals get protected by the law, individuals would create a society where justice and transparency can be prevalent.
