There are many arguments between death penalty. Albert Camus said ″For centuries the death penalty, often accopanied
by barbarous refinements, has been trying to hold crime in check; yet crime persists.″ George W. Bush said ″ I don´t think
you should support the death penalty to seek revenge. I don´t think that´s right. I think the reason to support the death
penalty is because it saves other people´s lives.″ Albert Camus disagree with death penalty. According to Albert Camus´s
quotation, death penalty has been a penalty for a long time, but the crime still exists. George W. Bush agrees with the
idea of death penalty. George W. Bush thinks death penalty will be helpful, because it prevents other people getting
hurts. I agrees with Albert Camus. Capital punshiment, also known as death penalty should be banned.
First, wrong convictions cannot be corrected. We can not bring back a dead person, even if you had a wrong decisions
about it. It is impossible to compensafe executed prisoners should they later be proven innocent. As an example, one man
who was innocent was arrested by police because they thought the man was the murder. And they killed them, the
another man was caught. He was a real criminal. The innocent man cannot back. According to the YouTube, In 1989, police
officer Troy Davis was caught because he was a criminal. But he was innocent. But it is proven after his death. No murder
weapons are found. There were only 7 witness who said he was criminal, but they said they lied after Troy Davis had died.
This prove that one mans lives can be gone with judges wrong discision. According to the New York Times, in 1973, a total
of 142 people have been freed from death row after being exonerated with DNA or other kinds of evidence. This proves
that still, many people are in death row even if they are innocent.
Second, the state´s role is not to kill. The state has no right to take away the life of its citizens. By executing convicts, the
government is effectively condoning murder, and devaluing human life in the process. Such acts violate the right to life as
declared in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the right not to be subjected to cruel, inhuman, or degrading
punishment.
Third, it is very expensive. Capital punishment imposes a very high cost on taxpayers such as preparing a tool for killing,
which far outweighs the costs of alternative punishments such as life in prison.
For conclusion, death penalty should be banned.
