What’s keeping you from your 8 hours of sleep? 2015-02-04 오후 8:11:00

As teens, our duration of sleep has definitely grown shorter due to a number of reasons. 8 hours of sleep is the appropriate number of hours we should be sleeping in order to be healthy. However, many of us don’t value sleeping because of the numerous amounts of distractions that surround us. A survey was conducted on a group of high school students on what they normally did after 9 pm. 82% of them were said to be watching TV, 55% of them were said to be using a computer online and 44% of them talking on the phone. Another 34% were told to be sending and receiving text messages. Among these students, only 21% of them could get the 8hours of sleep. As a teen, the lack of sleeping hours can cause us to perform poorly in school, increase obesity rates, and may also cause depression.
“Scientists studying teen sleep deprivation have several theories about why exposure to technology cuts into rest, and the research continues,” says Amy Wolfson.
If you are one of those who aren’t getting a sufficient amount of sleep, remember to check whether you’re not wasting your time on electronic devices such as your phone, laptop, or television. You surely wouldn’t want to be wasting your time on something less important and essential than you’re sleep.
