January 27 is the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz. It has been 70 years, since the Jews that were under the Nazi finally got were freed. Among the survivors, six of the survivors will be returning to the site for the last time to tell their stories. The six survivors were Irene Fogel Weiss, Joseph Mandrowitz, Eva Umlauf, Susan Pollack, and Mordechai Ronen, Henry Korman. These six people will be telling they’re stories by visiting the place itself, and have their stories to be recorded. Irene Weiss was born in Czechoslovakia, Ukraine in 1930. Joseph Mandrowitz was born in Czemierniki, Poland in 1923. Eva Umlauf was born in a labour camp in Czechoslovakia in 1942. Susan Pollack was born in Hungary in 1930. Mordechai Ronen was born in Romania in 1933. Henry Korman was born in Poland.
Some of them don’t have distinct memories from that period while some have traumatic experiences they don’t want to remember. However, thinking that this would be the last, all six of them will be going back to revisit their holocaust memories.
