Do you have your own dream? According to a survey, about 60% of Korean high school students turned out to have no dreams. They just put up with grueling academic curriculum so they could be accepted into a prestigious college. Entering into renowned colleges, like the Seoul National University, is thought to be a successful life because it is easier for them to get high paid jobs. However, is it a way to be happy for them to enter into a prestige college and get a well-paying job? I think that it is important to know exactly what our dreams are in order to live a happy life.
I want to be a fundraiser, quite an unfamiliar job. As the culture of donation expands, jobs related to donation have also improved. Sharing has become something familiar and we make it clear that we need to share something with others. A fundraiser is a person who plans specific actions to encourage people for donation. For example, a fundraiser could plan a donation party for the celebrated to donate money and also have fun at the party. Instead of just telling people ¡°there are so many poor people around the world, so please donate money¡±, fundraisers come up with creative ways to entice people in sharing.
The donation experience I had when I was a first grader in Jinseon Girls High School strongly motivated me to become a fundraiser since the experience touched not only me but also all those who participated in this donation event. The Himalayan earthquake hit Nepal on April 25th, 2015. It killed more than 7,000 people. Hundreds and thousands of houses were destroyed rendering people homeless. Right after the disaster, many organizations like UNICEF and countries went to Nepal to rescue people. After seeing the horrible situation, my mind bled for the painful sufferers of the earthquake. I wanted to gather money to help Nepal. I, as the class president, decided to open a little flea market. My friends helped me, too. We made plans and got permission from our teacher. My friends and I prepared mini muffins, chocolates and ice tea to sell. We asked our classmates to bring money as much as they want to donate. Many students said that it was quite a fascinating idea to open a flea market and they donated quite a lot of money. From this experience, I learned that even a little donation can also help relieve the pain. No matter how much someone donates, the important point is that we are caring about them. Since I experienced miracle from encouraging people to have interest in sharing, I wanted to widen this miracle to all around the world by becoming a successful fundraiser.
I would like to study further more about international studies and specialize in international peace and security, international commence and other fields related to international society. By learning these subjects, I can learn to be a leader of the upcoming world and contribute into minute changes that could gather up to be a miracle in making a smiling world. Also I would like to learn about marketing and psychology. Since I have to motivate people to donate and stimulate their actions, it would be important for me to read peoples¡¯ minds.
One¡¯s pursuit of happiness comes from doing what one likes, enjoys, and is interested in. So I would like to advise all students to explore their interests and seek to know further about their potential. Making your dreams come true is similar to a marathon game. The important point is that we all need to know the end line, our dreams, so that we do not give up. |
