As the 21 century begins, everyone knows that environmental problems are getting worse. The main reason for the environmental pollution is that humans emitted too many greenhouse gases such as methane(CH4) and carbon dioxide(CO2). (There may be another pollutant like an oil spill.) Is there anything that we can do to stop our earth’s global warming? I tried to find solutions to the environmental pollution.
First, the most ultimate solution is to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions. It seems to be a bit boring and too familiar. But we need to make an effort to reduce them. We can find a good example in Europe. At first in EU, there is a regulation that cars should be made environment-friendly. It is named ‘Euro 6’. It has become more rigid since it was made in 1992. So, many car companies in Europe had to make eco-friendly electric cars to satisfy the regulation.
Secondly, in France, there is a city named Freiburg. It is a city that produces almost all the energy consumed in the city with the solar power. In Freiburg, it is relatively easy to see many solar energy collectors on the tops of the buildings. Also, they use trams powered by electricity to emit less methane. I think the clean city like Freiburg should be built in Korea, too.
There is ‘Seoul-World Cup Park’ in Seoul. Originally, it used to be a landfill. So, the people passing by that area suffered from the stink from the garbage. It also emitted a lot of CH4. So, Korea decided to turn it into an eco-friendly park. The park was so beautiful that lots of people came out to see how the park was built. This was the most fabulous idea I had ever heard. It is now very popular.
In conclusion, I think that there are several ways to save our Earth with our efforts. So we shouldn’t give up, and pay attention to the groaning of the Earth. As I mentioned above, we can make new regulations to reduce the emissions, build new eco-friendly cities like Freiburg, or turn a gigantic trash mountain into a clean, beautiful park. We’re not late, and now is the time to do something good for our precious Earth. Let’s take part in the efforts to preserve the Earth.
