Death toll rises over 3,000: Nepal 2015-04-28 ¿ÀÈÄ 9:49:00


Nepal is currently struggling with the devastation of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the nation on Saturday. This powerful earthquake was the country¡¯s worst in 80 years. On Sunday, it was struck by a major aftershock. Currently, the death toll has been confirmed to surpass 3,300 deaths. However, the death toll is expected to rise sharply. The nation¡¯s capital of Katmandu was particularly hard hit. The quake also launched an avalanche on Mount everest, killing and injuring those who were on Mount Everest. Outside of Nepal, at least have been killed in India, Bangladesh, China¡¯s region of Tibet and Pakistan. The destruction caused by the earthquake not only includes buildings and houses but also national monuments and ancient temples and towers. It will take time before we get hold of the full extent of the damage and the final death toll. This devastating tragedy is being supported by other countries in the world with immediate aid and supplies. Humanitarian groups such as Red Cross, Oxfam, CARE and Save the children are working to provide shelter, clean water, sanitation and emergency food supplies.
