Ansan, a mountain in my neighborhood, is an exceptionally beautiful mountain. In seasons, flowers bloom across the mountain : coloring the forests with vivid colors. Gentle cherry blossom petals float gracefully towards the ground in spring. Shortly after the cherry blossoms, bright yellow flowers burst all over the mountainside. Streams of water rush down the mountain : gurgling and splashing merrily. What remains in all the seasons, though, is not something beautiful. Garbage remains : like a thorn in a beautiful rose bush. People, animal, and plants of my neighborhood are all affected by the garbage littered on the mountain.

Garbage on Ansan affects animals, plants, and people. Battered trash stand like an outcast on the beautiful background, disturbing the scenery of the mountain as hikers try to enjoy the view of the mountain. Science shows that dangerous chemicals can leak from the garbage and sink into the ground as it decomposes. These chemicals are hazardous to the gorgeous trees, flowers, and other plants which benefit us in many ways. Animals can eat and choke on balloons, get stuck in cans, suffocate in plastic bags, or step on glass.

Although the amount of garbage littered on Ansan is considerably little compared to other places, the garbage littered on Ansan is hazardous to my neighborhood.

Everyone must work together to put a stop to littering.
