Rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae snatched a gold medal at the FIG World Cup held in Lisbon, Portugal, Saturday (local time).

Son scored 17.550 points in club and 17.950 in ribbon in the second day of the international competition.

She ranked the first in the individual contest with a total of 71.200, with 17.900 in hoop and 17.800 in ball, respectively, in the previous first day competition.

The second place came to Melitina Staniouta of Belarus who got 68.150 in total.

It was the first time that a Korean gymnast grabbed the gold medal in the individual contest of the FIG World Cup.

Son said during a press after the competition that she tried to relax at the maximum in order not to make mistake. “I would exert more efforts to grab more gold in the future,” she said.
