For the independence!Seodaemun Prison History Hall 2016-05-29 ¿ÀÈÄ 2:29:00

In history class or social studies class, we learn about Japan and Korea¡¯s independence. Many independence activists were in the Seodaemun Prison History Hall and suffered by tough tortures. Yoo Kuan sun, an independence activist, is one of the people who stayed in Seodaemun Prison and died for her country, Korea. A lot of people came to this museum to feel the pain of the history: groups, families, and so on.
The history hall is divided into 6 big parts, Exhibition hall, Prison building, Engineering work building, Execution building/Corpse removal exit, Exercise facility, Woman¡¯s prison, and cook house.
In the Exhibition hall, visitors can find information, and look at the tortures that Japan did to many people. There are water torture, fingernail torture, box torture, etc. Furthermore, in the prison building and the Engineering work building, prisoners stayed and made military supplies. The execution building is for the execution, and many independence activists were sent to this building. Lastly, the cookhouse is a place which made meals for the prisoners.
Besides looking around the History Hall, kids from 1st grade to 6th grade can join other actives: making Taegeukgi (Korean flag) cupcakes, making Seodaemun Prison book and a small wallet. Visiting hours and more information is in the website, http://www.sscmc.or.kr/newhistory/index_culture.asp .
