As the technology develops, many jobs are disappearing quickly. Most jobs will be substituted by robots, and new jobs will be created in the future. Because of this situation, many students think that they don't have to plan their future. However, it is still important to design our future.
There are several reasons why we should design our future. First, we can think about ourselves by designing our future. If we design our future, we think about our aptitude and interest. Also, we try to think of job which suits to our aptitude and interest. By these things, we can know more about ourselves. Second, we can select our job easily. Although many jobs will be disappeared in the future, there will be still many kinds of jobs. At that time, we should also select our own job. Then, it will be easier to select job because we have done it before. We know our interest, aptitude and which type of job fits to myself. So, it will take much little time than other people to choose our job.
Because of these advantages, our government has also created new policy - free semester. Free semester is one of the main educational policy in 2016. From 2016, all middle school in Korea have to do free semester. Free semester is going to be done in 1st semester or 2nd semester of 1st grade - different to school decision. In free semester, students find their future job and design their future. They don't take tests. All they have to do for 6 months is to find themselves. I don't know it will work to make students find their future jobs. However, it is certain that government did this because they thought it would be helpful for students and it is also important for the country.
I have also planned my future for myself. My dream is to be an international organization worker. International organization include UN(United Nations), EU(European Union), WHO(World Health Organization), UNICEF(United Nations Children's Fund), OECD(Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), UNDP(United Nations Development Programme), IMF(International Monetary Fund), UNESCO(United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization), UNGC(United Nations Global Compact) and more. To be an international organization worker, I have to do several things. First, I should be fluent in English, because it is the official language in UN. Also, it is good to speak one more language except English - Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, German. Second, I should be full of volunteering mind. So, I am trying to study English hard. I always try to remember as much words as I can, I write essay weekly, speak English by myself. Also, if I have time, I want to learn another language, especially French because I have always wanted to learn French since when I was young. And I'm trying to volunteer in my usual life to inspire myself. By these efforts, I wish I can become international organization worker in the future.
It is very hard to achieve one's goal. Especially, it is hard to achieve our future job. However, I think it will be easier to achieve one's goal if we have plan to achieve it. So, I hope many students can find their own aptitude and interest by free semester and become easier when they plan their goal!
