When to go as planned, always heard, laughed, God is fair that what you knew”.
The above sentence is in the lyrics of the songs of famous domestic band, this phrase seems to indicate this movie well.
Main character, police inspector 최창식, who awarded President Award, and do waiting for promotion was riding the success highway, but has made a huge mistake that could take all of him. But understandably, as god is fair, movie ends making him to pay the price.

Police ‘Chae’ who has been seeking only for the fact, has committed the murder accidently, and committed another crime with chain to cover his crimes. This process leads viewers to feel thrill and tension.

About casting, 손현주(최창식 역) played ‘Chae’, and 마동석 and 박서준 played co-police inspectors. This is a second thriller movie of 손현주 after movie “Hide and Seek”(2013). His act has been more upgraded and fierce.

The movie seems quite interesting for it used psychological treat. The movie shows us the fallen character, and it deserves that he should be judged by law about his guilty, but we wish he shouldn’t be caught at heart because of sympathy. This is the reason why we feel thrill during watching movie.

Above all, what we gonna focus on is that this film isn’t just a movie which shows corruption of Police. But more seriously, it deals about Humans’ guiltiness and conscience. It throws a question ceaselessly ‘When human is being on the hot seat, what they gonna do?’ or ‘What they should do?’
With this point, I want to grades this movie highly.

Unfortunately, the thing that I think little sad about it is that there’s some dramatic reversal which can be seen old fashioned. But those points also became the sauce makes the film more delicious.

OST of this film is some kind of Jazz style, which makes the atmosphere of movie more fascinating. I recommend you the music “I can’t get you out off my mind”, and the movie “끝까지 간다”(2014) which has similar scenario casted by ‘이선균’.


Title “The Chronicles of malice” may not just means the chain of crimes; it would mean the chain that someone becomes another criminal by following the crimes and again and again.

The night after watching the movie seems much darker than other nights, only the neon lights are rounding my emaciated soul.
