Dokdo, the Korean territory 2013-07-08 ¿ÀÈÄ 2:40:00

Dokdo is located in the East Sea. It is a beautiful resting place for birds crossing the east sea and a rich fishing place. According to an old Korean document in 1145, Dokdo has been Korean territory since 512. Also, documents in 1432 and 1808 recorded Dokdo as Korean territory.

However, Japanese people have claimed Dokdo is their land and called it Takeshima. In 1905, during World War II, Japan was at war with Russia and they found that Dokdo was geographically very important for sea warfare with Russia. Dokdo was restored as Korean territory after World War II.

There are two main reasons why they claimed Dokdo is Japanese territory. First, if Dokdo became their island, Japan could claim 70% of the East Sea. Second, Dokdo has enormous underground resources. Japan has used public relations very actively and made people believe Dokdo is Japanese territory.

For Dokdo, we should know our history about Dokdo very well so that we could say clearly that Japan¡¯s claim is false. Also, we should have lots of concern on Dokdo continuously.
