Many students around the world love junk foods. This causes students to become fatter than before. The percentage of the population that are obese is increasing, including students. People say that we should prevent obesity (especially for students) but in my opinion, that can not happen, unless junk food is banned from school.
In America, junk foods are one of the serious problem to discuss about. Junk foods should be taken out of school lunch menus because they affect our body and mind in negative ways. Junk food is a major cause of childhood obesity. According to a research, 32% of youth are overweighted. School is where children spend most of their time, and it is where we find out for healthy habits. Obesity is on the increase in the developed world, and that includes rising childhood obesity. One of the article says that "In the UK it is predicted that over 20% of 2-15 year olds will be obese by 2010". By the way, it's 2014, and I think the percentage of obese is increased. It is important to fight obesity as it causes many health problems and can lead to early death through heart disease, diabetes and strokes. Also, schools can play an important role in combating obesity as people tend to get into habits about how they eat when they are young. Schools can help to make those habits healthy ones. If you don¡¯t eat fresh food and vegetables at home, you might not get to try them. Schools can introduce young people to healthy food. Lastly, bad diet can lead to childhood obesity, and other problems caused by unhealthy eating such as poor concentration, tooth decay and vitamin lack. Schools can play a part in fighting these problems by providing healthy lunches. Even if this is only one of the meals in a student's day, schools can have a good effect on the overall diet of their students. If children are eating grilled chicken, vegetables and fruit at lunch rather than fried chicken, chips and cakes, that will have a positive effect on their health, and their schoolwork will improve too. |
