Finless Porpoise lives in Dokdo island sea. Finless Porpoise is the smallest tooth whale. They can grow up to 2 meters tall. In korea, It is called Moo La chi too. They don't have a dorsal fin and their pectoral looks like egg. Their bodies are black. They weigh about 72 kilograms. Finless Porpoise's scientic name is 'Neophocaena phocaenoides'. They are firing supersonic on their foreheads. They can find their foods and swim fast. Because of supersonic, Finless Porpoise likes to swim and do something alone. But, sometimes, they swim together. their skin is also very soft. They look like people too.
Finless Porpoise is endangered, because Japanese people came to Dokdo and hunt a lots of Finless Porpoises and other whales. It's called whaling or whale fishing. Korean people hunt whales and sell to the market. People hunt Finless Porpoises and other whales for getting money. In the past, there were many Finless Porpoises in the East sea of Korea. But, now, there are just about 30,000 Finless Porpoises. We never hunt Finless Porpoise and protect it for natural ecosystem maintenance. |
