In American Schools, teachers make kids read a variety of books. However, it is inevitable that some students doesn't read books. Then how do the teachers make students want to read books? The answer is this: schools organize special events in which both students and teachers participate in activities of book reading. For example, most schools always have a reading time where the students and teachers bring books to class and read them in class. The teacher and students read whatever book they want, so it fosters interest in reading. Another method is Book Adventure Day, which is a day when teachers dress up in various costumes and explore the books with students. Usually, a theme is chosen and students and teachers explore the book. Teachers study the books with students in class. Teachers dress up as a character in a book and read the book to the students. In my school, some teachers dressed up as characters in the novel Narnia, and read the books together with students. By this, teacher helped to faciliate students to understand the book and helped them to enjoy reading. |
