Feminism is a doctrine advocating equal rights of women and men. Starting from the 19th and early 20th century, females who were previously defined as ¡°subordinate¡± individuals of the society began to demand gender equality and women enfranchisement. This social movement led by feminists remains in modern society. However, it seems like the recent wave of feminism in the 21st century shows a distorted version of feminism that is completely ignorant of the doctrine¡¯s true essence.
Some radical feminists have been trying to drive males out of traditionally male-dominated fields and positions, despite the fact that this clearly does not adhere to the inherent principles of feminism. Simply pushing males out and females into what they deem as male-dominated, professional occupations originate from the misunderstanding of feminism. If more of these actions persist, females will lose freedom since they have to give up the chance to determine what type of profession would fit their taste and capabilities. The misconception of feminism among females is also the reason behind the hatred towards feminism among males. This is because the feminism that males criticize does not represent the actual feminism that has existed since the last century. It is rather a distorted perception of feminism- fake feminism that fails to realize how gender equality is achieved only when both genders have equal opportunities to make certain decisions in their life, and are uninfluenced by any social standards.
In Korea, there has been a major social movement called Me Too, characterized by the sudden revelation of past female victims of sexual assaults committed by men like celebrities and authoritarians. Testimonies of women portraying their past traumatic experience of sexual abuse did indeed show how men in Korea tended to be complicit in such crimes with absolute impunity. Although this movement publicly dealt with an issue that was relatively hidden in the past, it recently proved to have an evident backlash: the misconception of feminism. Although feminism does not fight for the privileges of women or female superiority, the recent social movement Me Too illustrates the distorted perception of feminism that the Korean society harbors, since some of the aspects of the movement served to raise male distrust and characterize males as inferior individuals.
If the society doesn¡¯t grant a change to the individuals' perception of feminism, women will continue to fail in acting with the inherent intent of feminism in mind, resulting in greater conflict between men and women. |

First of all, feminists are trying to drive males out of their traditionally male-dominated fields and positions, even though this clearly does not adhere to the inherent principles of feminism. Simply pushing males out and females into what they deem as male-dominated, professional occupations originate from the misunderstanding of feminism. If more of these actions persist, females will lose freedom since they themselves aren¡¯t the ones who determine what type of profession is actual ¡°success¡± for them. The misconception of feminism among females is also the reason behind the hatred towards feminism among males. This is because of the feminism that males oppose is irrelevant to the actual feminism that has persisted since the last century it is rather a distorted perception feminism, fake feminism that doesn¡¯t realize how the actualization of gender equality happens only when both genders have equal opportunities to make certain decisions in their life, and are uninfluenced by any social standards.
In Korea, there has been a major social movement called Me Too, characterized by the sudden revelation of past female victims of sexual assaults committed by men, celebrities and authoritarians in particular.
