U.N approves E.U Naval Force. 2015-10-25 ¿ÀÈÄ 11:23:00

On October 9, the United Nations Security Council voted on a resolution, or formal proposal. It was about a E.U navy force in the Mediterranean Sea. The resolution passed. The U.N. Security Council is made up of 15 countries. Fourteen voted for the resolution. One, Venezuela, decided to disapprove of this. The U.N. has 193 member countries. However, its Security Council makes most of the important decisions. Only 15 of the U.N.¡¯s member states remain on the Security Council. Five are what¡¯s known as permanent members. These are the U.S., Britain, Russia, France, and China. Four of them were the victors of the Second World War The fifth, China, became a permanent member in 1971.

The E.U Naval Force has launched a mission that will stop the piracy stiring up in the Mediterranean. In recent years hundreds of boats carrying illegal migrants have tried to cross the Mediterranean Sea. The people in the boats want to move to
EU member countries. Many critics have had disagreements about this issue and think that the U.N has not done enough to solve the problems.
