Some say that preparing in advance decides more than half of the success. Others go as far as to say that meticulous planning will ensure success. However, I agree that being creative rather than planning carefully results in best solution to a problem considering practical and social reasons.
First, there are practical reasons why creativity brings better results than careful planning. Though we make plans in advance, it is likely that plans change later on. This is because as time goes on, there are changes in situations which affect the process of solving the problem. If plans change, there is no need to spending time and efforts in carefully planning. Therefore, since plans often change, working on gathering creative ideas will be more effective in bringing out solution. For instance, in a research done by Chung-Ang Ilbo, it was mentioned that tour guides always prepare plan Bs as it is likely that they face unexpected situations during trips, due to changes in weather or traffic jam. Therefore, there are clear practical reasons why it is ineffective to carefully plan before when dealing with a problem.

Next, there are social reasons why creativity will be more important in producing solution to a problem. In today’s society where advanced technology has developed rapidly, our lives have become standardized and stable. In such society, creative inventions become the competitiveness of the society. This is because earning patents through creative inventions would indicate that the society has utilized the technology well to produce such creative results. Therefore, considering the current society’s demand of making profits through creativity, careful planning would be of help in devising solution. In an article that I read in International New York Times, it was stated that private business owners who create their own business by inventing new necessities are the ones who make the biggest profit. Likewise, society needs creative people to create inventive products by utilizing the advanced technology. Therefore, there are clear social reasons why creativity brings better results than meticulous planning.
