Factory Farming Needs to be Changed 2013-10-25 ¿ÀÈÄ 8:12:00

In the market, we can easly buy frozen chicken, beef, and even pork. We put those in our cart without thinking. However, these products are the consequances of our cruel factory farming.

To start with, the status quo of human and animal is a serious matter. Factory farmed animals are suffering from immoral factory farming, which is only focused on making profits. Due to increasing demands for eggs, milks, pork and beef the factory owners are trying to make product with maximum profit and time efficiency. Therefore, they put chicken in cage smaller than A4 size piece of paper. Furthermore, they cut the beak of chicken without anesthetics to protect eggs and also they light the cage two times a day to create illusion that two day have passed in order to expedite laying eggs. This inhumane action to animals is huge damage not only to the animals but also for humans for two reasons.

First, the disease caused by immoral farming is critical. 2010, the key word to term that year was Foot and Mouth Disease, which is called FMD. FMD is an infectious and sometimes fatal viral disease that affects cloven-hoofed animals, such as pig and cow. FMD was caused by animals lack of exercising which resulted in deteriorated immunity and also people's abuse of antibiotics to the animals feed. It was such a catastrophe that all we could see in the news show was news about FMD. FMD left Korean Government huge burden and killed innocent pigs.

Secondly, the influence of factory farming to the environment is crucial. Factory farming is the main cause of environmental damage. 90% of Amazon forest disruption since 1990, was a consequence of mowing to make feed for farmed animals. As animals are being raised in a limited area, CO2 is created which can't be handled. Blindly farming the animals can create severe consequence.

The old rancher from ¿ö³¶¼Ò¸® raise his cows with love. He let them without a collar and make them work for appropriate amount a day. He even provide roomy shelter and nutritious feed. This may seem impossible and huge financial cost. However, I am not claiming to do the same. What I am saying is that we should learn the attitude of loving animals and provide better shelter for farmed animals. In order to do this we should consider two major aspect. To start with, the farm land. The animals should be given a proper shelter. As I mentioned earlier, animals are suffering of lack of space which weaken their immunity and make disease prevail faster. This can be solved when they are given with the suitable shelter in order to build immune system and prevent prevalence of disease. Secondly, they should be well fed. Many immoral ranchers put antibiotics and chemicals in to the feed of animals in order to produce softer beef or pork. This chemicals can be good for the taster of their meet it is critical for their health and even cause a disease.

Therefore, the society we live in disregards animals pain and the consequence of it. They are just focused on the their own benefit. However in order to make more healthy and cleam environment we should change.
